MAGELANG’s Atria Hotel & Conference distributes 60 LED (light-emitting diodes) bulbs to residents of Kampung Trunan, Magelang Municipality, Central Java as part of worldwide events for the 2014 Earth Hour campaign.
The free distribution of the energy-saving bulbs aims to promote energy efficient lighting.
“Besides households, there are many small scale enterprises in Kampung Trunan. Switching to LED bulbs will generally reduce electricity costs,” Candid Erdiata, Atria’s Public Relations Manager said on Thursday.
Erdiata said the LEDs distribution has also become a part of Atria’s CSR (corporate social responsibility) programs as well as the hotel’s concern over the community around its location.
“A LED light to last up to 15 years. That’s an eco-friendly lighting choice,” Erdiata said.
Earth Hour 2014 will be held on Saturday, March 29 between 8.30 PM and 9.30 PM.
The event is held worldwide towards the end of March annually, encouraging individuals, communities households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
Atria Hotel & Conference itself, Erdiata added, has also prepared a special program to celebrate this year’s Earth Hour called “Intimate Candle Light Dinner”, where guests may having dinner by the pool located on the 3rd floor.***
