I WILL soon distribute the leaflets to Hongkong and Singapore,” longtime curator and Indonesian art collector Dr Oei Hong Djien said, on the sidelines of a preparatory meeting of the 2014 Magelang Arts Event (MaE), in Magelang’s Syang Arts Space, on Monday evening.

“We should raise this (the 2014 MaE) to international level, not merely a national event,” said the owner of Magelang’s OHD Museum, a private museum that specialises in modern and contemporary Indonesian art.

He therefore asked the committee to finish the 2014 Magelang Arts Event brochures before he leaves Magelang.

Oei Hong Djien scheduled to visit Hongkong on March 24 and he will serve as the keynote speaker at a meeting held by the country’s Board of Trustees.

He also would have been visited Singapore on April 2nd as he is now advisor to the country’s National Art Gallery for Indonesian art. Before Oei Hong Djien was board member of Singapore Art Museum after being as Honorary advisor for 2 periods.

He also spoke about “Museum Era: The Rise of Asia” in Art14 London, England from last February 28 – March 2nd.

This year will be the second of the biennial Magelang Arts Event since the first was held in 2012.

The MaE is initiated by some Magelang’s Borobodur and Magelang Municipality artists.

Besides Magelang itself, the 2014 MaE will also performed simultaneously in multiple visual arts galleries in Bali and Sumatera.

The mission of Magelang Arts Event is to create and promote the highest quality destination fine art events in Magelang and Indonesia as well.
