226 ATHLETES from 6 provinces to take part in Magelang Open Student Sanda (Sparring) Wushu Championship.
Representing provinces of Central Java, East Java, South Sumatera, Bengkulu, and Yogyakarta as well as East Kalimantan, athletes are competing in men and women sub-junior, junior and senior categories.
Age groups for sub-junior are 13 to under 16 years old; junior are 16 to 18 years old; and for senior are over 18 years old.
For sub-junior, weight classes being contested are between 40 to 60 kilograms, and for junior are 42 to 65 kilograms.
Men senior classes being held at 48 to 75 kilograms, and women senior compete at 40 to 60 kilograms.
The tournament has officially opened today will run until Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Gemilang Sports Hall, Magelang Regency.
“The champinonship, held in collaboration with Wushu Indonesia, has been part of Magelang Regency’s Office of Education, Youth, and Sports program of work”, Heri Yusuf Wibisono, a committee said, adding that it also being held to celebrate Indonesia’s annual National Education Day on May 2.
Magelang Open Student Sanda Wushu Championship, especially for sub-junior and junior classes, is also expected to produce good talents and potential wushu champions in the future, says Eko Triyono, caretaker of Head of Magelang Regency’s Office of Education, Youth, and Sports.***
