INDONESIA to promote investment and trade in Scotland’s biggest city, Glasgow, as a commitment of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Prime Minister David Cameron to increasing the value of the business between the two countries by 2015.
Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, Teuku Mohammad Hamzah Thayeb, had a meeting on Tuesday with Scottish Development International (SDI), the investment and trade promotion agency of the Scottish Government, Hastin Aristya Bakti Dumadi, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in London, told Antara News.
Mr Hamzah Thayeb also gave an explanation to entrepreneurs – members of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce (GCC), and he visited Sgurr Energy, a leading renewable energy consultancy.
He talked to Scottish businessmen over lunch in Hilton Glasgow about investment opportunities in various fields in Indonesia, including renewable energy industry.
Together with Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Deputy Chairman for Investment Promotion Himawan Hariyoga, and Chief Executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Mr Stuart Pattrick, Mr Hamzah Thayeb launched the “Invest in Remarkable Indonesia” ad using 30 Glasgow taxis.
The one-month advertising launch, now in its second time since it began in 2013, is part of series of investment promotion activities undertaken by the BKPM and its London’s representative office, Indonesia Investment Promotion Center (IIPC).
They also discussed with enterprisers in London and Warwick.
On May 21-22, 2014, Indonesia, which was represented by the BKPM and IIPC London, participated in the annual All Energy Exhibition and Conference (AEEC) for the first time.
The UK’s largest renewable energy show has been held in Scotland’s third most populous city, Aberdeen since it began in 2001.
The organizers of the All-Energy conference have recently announced that All-Energy 2015 will move from Aberdeen, and will be held at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center (SECC) in Glasgow on May 6 – 7, 2015.
JS Meyer Siburian, Head of IIPC London, said, Scottish Development International to schedule a visit to Indonesia in June that includes exploring opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector.***
