INDONESIA is once again officially appointed host country for the annual IOAA (International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics).
This astronomy competition for high school students will soon be held in Magelang Regency, the Province of Central Java from July 26 – August 4, 2015.
In 2008, the 2nd IOAA was also took place in Indonesia (in Bandung of West Java) where Indonesia students swept up 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
The 9th/2015 IOAA will consist of Practical Competition (Data Analysis and Observations) and Theoretical Competition.
Observational exam as a part of IOAA will be conducted at UNESCO World Heritage Site the Borobudur Temple Compounds (also the venue of opening ceremony), and in Taruna Nusantara Senior Secondary Boarding School, Banyurojo Village, Mertoyudan Subdistrict.
As in previous years, high school students from dozens of countries will participate in the 9th IOAA in Magelang Regency.
Indonesia itself will be represented by 2 teams of 5 students each.
The first IOAA was held in November-December 2007 in Chiang Mai of Thailand; the 3rd IOAA/2009 in Tehran of Iran; the 4th/2010 IOAA in Beijing of China; the 5th/2011 IOAA in Krakow of Poland; the 6th/2012 IOAA in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil; the 7th/2013 IOAA in Volos of Greece; and the 8th/2014 IOAA in Suceava of Romania.***[firstname.lastname@example.org]
